Cost Management

Do I need to pay for a subscription to use FindingFive? Is there a trial period?

There isn't an official "trial period," but you can explore the platform for free. Building experiments, testing features, and running pilots by previewing your experiments to ensure FindingFive meets your needs all come at no cost.

When you're ready to launch sessions and collect participant data, a paid subscription is required. Our plans are designed to be affordable for both individual researchers and labs. You can find more details about available plans on our website.

Are there other fees in addition to the cost of a subscription?

Possibly. Each subscription includes a set participation record quota. If you exceed this quota, a session fee will apply (see the next few questions for details).

If you're offering cash rewards to participants, FindingFive charges a flat 75-cent processing fee per participant reward, in the currency of the payment.

Additionally, some research labs request custom features or extra capacity, which are priced on an individual basis.

Can I set up a subscription for my entire lab? Are there discounts?

Yes! Our Plus 1s feature is designed for labs that want to purchase subscriptions for multiple members. You can start with a primary subscription and add as many Plus 1s as needed to match your lab's headcount. Every plan also includes collaboration tools to make working together easier.

Plus 1s are discounted add-on subscriptions that allow colleagues or students to access the same plan benefits as the primary subscription holder. Each Plus 1 has their own usage quotas—such as file storage and participation record exemptions—so they won't take away from your own limits.

To be eligible as a Plus 1, the person you're adding must not already have an active subscription. You can include Plus 1s when purchasing a new subscription or add them later to an existing one. If you add Plus 1s after the initial purchase, their cost will be prorated based on your current billing cycle.

If you would like to negotiate a custom quote instead, please contact us.

What is a session fee, and how is it calculated?

A session fee is based on participation records, meaning you pay per completed participation, not per participant. If the same person completes multiple sessions, each one counts separately—this is particularly relevant for longitudinal or multi-part studies.

Importantly, you won't be charged for incomplete participations. If a participant drops out, times out, or encounters technical issues before finishing, their data won't appear in your CSV file, and no session fee will apply.

What is a participation record quota?

Each subscription plan includes a set number of participation records at no extra cost per billing cycle. You'll only pay session fees if you exceed that limit. The exact quota depends on your plan, and you can find details on our pricing page.

Participation record exemptions will be applied per subscription cycle. For example, assume you subscribe on Jan 15, 2025. If it is a monthly subscription, your participation record exemptions will reset on Feb 15. If it is an annual subscription, your participation record exemptions will reset on Jan 15, 2026.

When are session fees charged?

Session fees are only charged when you download participant data for the first time from a session. After that, you can download the same data as often as needed without additional fees. You can choose to pay the session fee immediately or at a later time.

When do I need to pay my session fee bills?

Session fee bills are due within 15 days of downloading your data. We'll send you a reminder before the due date.

If a bill becomes overdue, you won't be able to launch new sessions until it's paid. Additionally, if your session fee balance reaches $100/€100, you'll need to pay it before launching any new sessions, regardless of the 15-day deadline.
